The association was chartered in 1962 at Macdill Air Force Base Strike Command.
"Promote the right to knowledge; a strong body leads to a strong mind and honor leads to a strong life."
We intend to maintain and honor the teachings and way of training by Dr. John Kistler As taught by the Chinese monks and Hwang Kee’s students. The association membership includes direct lineage promoting the teachings and way of Dr. Kistler, his students, or other lineage that have broken away with style changes. We honor all friends of the association including other Tang Soo Do associations, both American and Korean. The American Tang Soo Do Club at FSCJ was chartered in 2004 by Dr. Kistler and the NATSDA. It is run by Grandmaster Caraway and Master Phillips, our faculty sponsor.
Our first president and founder is Dr. John Kistler, 10th degree Grandmaster Black Belt Emeritus. The association is currently run by Grand Master Handly "Corky" Caraway, 9th degree Black Belt, and our historian, Charlie Phillips, a 6th degree Black Belt.
